Berkshire School Presents “Mamma Mia!”

The globally adored musical will run February 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. in Allen Theater

Sheffield, Mass. (February 17, 2025) – Berkshire School’s Theater and Music Departments are
celebrating the school’s 60th anniversary of the winter musical production with Mamma Mia!,
featuring music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, some songs with Stig
Anderson, and book by Catherine Johnson. Produced by special arrangement with Music
Theater International.

Mamma Mia! is a bright and breezy musical featuring the timeless songs of ABBA, set on a
beautiful Greek island. The audience follows Sophie, a young bride-to-be, who secretly invites
three men from her mother’s past, hoping to discover which one is her father before her
upcoming wedding day. A celebration of love, family, and self-discovery, the show offers up
romance and classic high-energy musical numbers that promise a toe-tapping good time!
Theater Program Director Jesse Howard says Mamma Mia! is that “rare musical that combines
humor and depth against a backdrop of fantastic music. A live band and an amazing cast of
energetic performers deliver a story about taking risks and pursuing your dreams.”

The production features local students Luka Davis (Sheffield), Chloe Howard (Sheffield), Fatou
Fall (Lakeville, Conn.), Ellie Grimmett (Lenox), Will Pohl (Canaan, Conn.), Jessica Sonner
(Salisbury, Conn.), and Diana Splawn (Sheffield), as well as a live band composed of local
musicians, technicians, and artists.

Mamma Mia! opens Thursday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. and runs Friday, February 21 and
Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 pm in Berkshire School’s Allen Theater. No reservations are
required, but arrive early for best seats. There is a $2 suggested donation at the door. Light
refreshments will be available at intermission. The play runs about 2.5 hours with a 15-minute
intermission.

The Theater Department at Berkshire School produces two plays and one musical on the Allen
Theater mainstage each year. The program is a hands-on, all-voices-heard, ensemble-first
experience, as students not only perform in the shows, but also drive every aspect of the production, including props, costumes, cast blog, sets, lighting, publicity and more. Recent performances have included Into the Woods, Matilda, Legally Blonde, Rent, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and High School Musical.
