Emergency Casting Notice for “There Is Hope”

EMERGENCY CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the production of my play THERE IS HOPE is now one male cast member short. This is VERY bad news because our performance is only about five weeks away, so I hope someone will see the word “EMERGENCY” and be willing to help us out. Doing so may very well earn you good karma for the rest of your life!

One more thing before I get into the details – don’t sweat the small window of time between now and the show. I will work with you one-on-one EXTENSIVELY, for as long as I need, to get you caught up to speed with the rest of the cast.

**********

This play is about all the possibilities that tomorrow can hold, about learning from your mistakes and becoming a better person. It’s about healing old wounds and making peace with those you may have hurt…and I need YOU to help me bring it to life!

SUMMARY

Kevin Seward has been living like a hermit since his last girlfriend Lucy Grossman broke up with him. His friend Erwin Gleason invites Kevin to a party he is throwing. After he has been there for a while, Erwin tells him Lucy has arrived, so Kevin decides to leave. From this point on, the play tells two stories: (1) He encounters other partygoers in the present, and (2) we see flashbacks of his time with Lucy. By the time he makes it to the first floor, the tension is so thick that the only way to cut it would be if he ran into her and faced his fear, but what could come of such an encounter?

CAST MEMBER NEEDED

Since people want to see an age range in these posts, I will say mid-twenties to late-fifties. HOWEVER – if you are OLDER than that and are interested in auditioning, then PLEASE do so. The age range should not deter you.

ROLES

This cast member would be taking on SIX supporting roles. I’m not going to make this one super-long ad by describing them here; instead, descriptions will be given if/when a person shows interest in auditioning. Also, don’t let the number scare you: each character has just one scene. If you were to combine all their lines, it wouldn’t be even half of what the lead characters require.
