Performance Will Raise Funds for Life-Saving Cancer Research/Treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
West Springfield, MA (5/28/25) – The Majestics, a rock band specializing in covers of hit songs from the 50s to the 70s, will reunite for a fundraising concert at West Springfield’s Majestic Theater on Thursday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. in memory of the band’s original drummer, Tim Hosmer. All of the evening’s profits will be donated to the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise funds for life-saving cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Hosmer, a veteran performer of several Majestic Theater musicals, passed away in April after a valiant battle against cancer. In 2022, he joined fellow bandmate Ben Ashley, and his brother John Ashley, for part of the Ashley’s 110-mile Pan-Mass Challenge bicycle run from Sturbridge to Bourne, MA to raise funds for Dana-Farber. The Ashley brothers have participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge for several years, dedicating their fundraising efforts to the Hosmer family.
Band members Ben & Stacy Ashley, Aaron Porchelli, and Don Rovero originally worked with Hosmer when they were all cast in the Majestic Theater’s 1997 inaugural production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, with Ben Ashley cast in the lead role. The actor/musicians so enjoyed playing Holly’s tunes during the run of the show that they formed a band, named for the theater, and booked gigs performing cover versions of classic rock tunes after the play closed. The group gained a loyal following, but disbanded over 10 years ago, occasionally performing a show during the Majestic Theater’s summer concert lineup.
Joining the Majestics onstage for the upcoming show will be Hosmer’s musician brothers, Jamie and Brian Hosmer, as well as his niece Lily Wood. Also on the bill are musician/singer Mitch Chakour, who has been the musical director for several Majestic productions, and singer Lori Efford, who has performed in several Majestic musicals. Other guest musicians include Frank Manzi, Doug Wallace, Tom Ingram, and John Ashley.
Tickets for the concert are $28 and $30 and can be purchased online or over the phone at 413.747.7797. The Majestic Theater box office, located at 131 Elm Street in West Springfield, is open Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
