Arena Civic Theatre is proud to present a raw, rebellious new production of the cult-classic rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Directed by Megan Healey, this stripped-down, amped-up staging doubles as a fundraiser for TransHealth, a Western Massachusetts nonprofit that provides gender-affirming healthcare and support to the trans community.
Performances will take place at the historic Shea Theater in downtown Turners Falls. In a twist worthy of Hedwig herself, the roles of Hedwig and Yitzhak will be alternated between two powerhouse performers – Clay Gregory and Charlie William – each bringing their own fire and vulnerability to the stage.
Fueled by a blistering rock score and razor-sharp wit, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is the story of a genderqueer East German rocker navigating heartbreak, identity, and radical self-invention.
This production honors the show’s gritty roots while pushing it into bold new territory/artistically charged, community-driven, and unapologetically queer.
Every member of the cast and crew is donating their time to ensure that 100% of proceeds support TransHealth’s mission of inclusive, life-affirming care.
