Albany Civic Theater (ACT) is currently seeking show submissions from directors. For the 2026-2027 Season. We are looking for directors for 4 main stage shows.
The shows will run for three weekends, each in one of the following calendar slots:
Show 1: September 4-20, 2026
Show 2: December 4-20, 2026
Show 3: February 13, March 1, 2027
Show 4: May 7-23, 2027
ACT looks for balance in each season with a blend of cutting edge, newly published works and classic revivals, with the goal of providing a combination of artistic risk and commercial success. ACT is a small theater space, ideal for intimate productions.
All submissions should include:
- A copy of the script(s) you are submitting, either as a PDF, or a hard copy;
- Your current resume of directing experience;
- A description of your play;
- Which calendar slot(s) you are interested in;
- Any special technical, set, or costuming considerations;
- An explanation of why you feel the show would appeal to an audience, and what type(s) of audience(s); and
- A description of what you can bring to the play as its director.
Other useful information may include:
- Any unique interpretation you may bring to the production.
- How you envision the play working in a small space.
- A list of potential production members (ACT can offer assistance with this).
Remember to include your name, address, email address, and phone number on your resume.
Submissions must be received by December 28, 2025.
Up to three submissions per director will be accepted for consideration.
Please note: We strongly recommend that electronic copies of plays are submitted, but will accept physical copies. Physical copies will not be returned.
