CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT
THERE IS HOPE: A new stage play by Steve Grogan
THERE IS HOPE is an intimate, contemporary drama centered on accountability, forgiveness, and emotional growth.
Venue: Mount Ida Preservation Hall, Troy, NY
Dates: November 20, 21, 22 (two evening shows, one matinee)
Compensation: Volunteer
Cast Needed:
- 3 adult males (21+)
- 4 adult females (21+)
- 1 male child (ages 10–14)
About the play: Kevin Seward attends a party while still reeling from a breakup with his last girlfriend, Lucy Grossman. When he learns she’s there, he decides to leave. The story unfolds through a series of present-night encounters intercut with flashbacks to their relationship.
As tension builds, one question becomes unavoidable: what happens if he runs into her again?
Important notes:
- People cast in ensemble roles will play nine characters (one scene each).
- Modern setting — Actors assemble costumes from their own wardrobes.
- Intimacy is PG (hand-holding, cuddling, one long close-mouthed kiss)
- Clear physical differentiation and vocal control are required for ensemble roles.
Rehearsals: These will begin in early September and will be held twice per week on consistent nights between Sunday and Thursday. Specific rehearsal days, start times, and location will be finalized once the cast is selected and venue availability is confirmed.
Additional Meetings: There will be a non-rehearsal cast meeting and a full table reading in late August, prior to the start of regular rehearsals.
Auditions: Sides provided. No monologues required.
Dates/times/location to be announced.
