Hubbard Hall Theater Company Announces Casting for “Fefu and her Friends”

CAMBRIDGE, NYHubbard Hall Theater Company is proud to announce the cast, creative team, and community engagement Initiatives for its upcoming production of Fefu and Her Friends, running May 1–10, 2026.

Both funny and unsettling, Fefu and Her Friends unfolds as a reunion among eight women at Fefu’s country home in 1935. What begins as a lively gathering gradually reveals the private struggles, resilience, contradictions, and inner lives of women living within rigid social expectations. Fornés’ structure is groundbreaking: after the opening scene, the audience moves through multiple locations to experience four intimate scenes up close, each one offering a different perspective on the characters, their relationships, and the fragile, complex worlds they carry.

Hubbard Hall Theater Company’s production features a dynamic, multigenerational ensemble of performers drawn from across the Capital Region and beyond, led by Hoosick Falls native Katherine Danforth (Fefu), a graduate of SUNY Potsdam whose extensive work with Hubbard Hall includes Twelfth Night, Othello, Peter and the Starcatcher, A Box of Monkeys, and All’s Well That Ends Well, alongside additional regional credits at Fort Salem Theater.

She is joined by Cambridge native Jenny Wright (Julia). Living in New York City Jenny starred in Broadway and Off-Broadway plays. In her younger years she was Salvador Dali’s model. Later, moving to California to work in film- IMDb. She studied at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and studied The Meisner Method in California and New York.

Together, the ensemble brings together a wide range of experience across classical, contemporary, and regional theater. The cast includes new Washington County resident Jewel Winant (Cindy), currently on hiatus from pursuing her MFA in classical acting with the Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy, whose regional credits include over 40 productions throughout the Capital Region and training with Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, MA.

Also featured are Neve Marotta (Christina), another Cambridge native and SUNY Adirondack student with a lifelong history at Hubbard Hall; Tiffany McWilliams (Emma), an active Capital Region performer with extensive regional credits including All My Sons, Gaslight, and multiple world and regional premieres; Antoinette Fasino (Paula), a Montclair State University BFA graduate and produced playwright; Maureen “Moe” Cossey (Sue), a local theater professional, musician, and Hubbard Hall’s Event Production Coordinator; and Hannah Thien (Cecilia), an Albany-based actor and music director returning to Hubbard Hall following As You Like It, with additional credits including The Mousetrap and A Christmas Carol.

The creative team, led by Hubbard Hall’s Executive Director Erin Nicole Harrington as director and scenic designer, includes Laurie Kenny as Stage Manager, Kim Martin as Costume Designer, Maureen “Moe” Cossey as Lighting/Sound Designer, and Madeline Johns as Intimacy Coordinator.

In addition to the production, Hubbard Hall Theater Company will offer a series of community engagement initiatives designed to connect audiences more deeply with both the work and the civic life of the region. The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County will host voter information tables at all performances of Fefu and Her Friends, providing opportunities for audience members to confirm registration status, register to vote, request absentee ballot applications, update address or party enrollment, and learn what will be on the ballot in November.

The production also participates in Celebrando Fornés, a nationwide initiative led by the Fornés Institute, which invites theaters and institutions across the country to engage with the work of María Irene Fornés as part of the Decade of Fornés (2021–2030). Through this initiative, Hubbard Hall joins a national effort to celebrate and expand the legacy of one of the most influential playwrights of the 20th century.

On Sunday, May 10, audiences are invited to a special Mother’s Day brunch beginning at 10:00 AM at Canteen Coffee Co., offering an additional opportunity to gather in community before the final matinee performance.

Fefu and Her Friends will be offered in two distinct performance formats. Immersive performances follow the structure intended by the playwright, dividing audiences into small groups that are guided to different locations across the Hubbard Hall campus during Part 2 of the production. These performances take place on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 pm; Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 pm; Friday, May 8 at 7:30 pm; and Sunday, May 10 at 2:00 pm.

Single-set performances are staged entirely in the main hall, with the audience remaining seated for the duration of the show. Director Erin Harrington explains, “While the immersive staging reflects Fornés’ original vision for Fefu and Her Friends, she later created a revised single-location adaptation in 1996 for theatres that didn’t have the space to accommodate the four immersive environments of Part 2. Because of Hubbard Hall’s unique campus, we are actually one of the few places where the immersive version can be staged, but for a few performances, we will be using the single-set staging as an accessibility measure for community members with mobility needs.” Assisted listening will be available at these performances. Single-set performances take place on Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 pm.

All performances run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm, May 1–10, 2026. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students 21 and under. Tickets available at https://hubbardhall.org/fefu-and-her-friends/
