ABOUT THE SHOW

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Performers 21 years of age or older of all races and ethnicities, identities, and abilities are encouraged to attend.

HOW TO AUDITION

All roles are available to audition.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Please read the entire play. The playwright offers tremendous guidance throughout the play concerning action and tone.

Of the three scenes provided below, please choose one of the scenes to prepare for the audition. You will be considered for all characters in the play regardless of what you select to prepare, so this gives you an opportunity to select a scene that you like and/or most confident in showcasing your skills and talents. Callback material will be different selections of the script to be determined.

All character tracks will employ minimal intimacy in the form of affectionate physical touch, including choreographed kisses, as a non-negotiable part of the storytelling. There will be an opportunity to consent to what roles you’d like to be considered for on the audition form. For the audition, please do not realize moments of intimacy; instead use placeholders that allow you to convey the character’s active moments and responses.
