Title: After School Costume Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Proctors is the Capital District’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga, that frames education, civic engagement, and economic development initiatives throughout the region. The Collaborative School of the Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes, and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.
Proctors is seeking is seeking an experienced Costume Coordinator to support the production of two after-school youth theatre training programs at Proctors and in Schenectady city middle schools. The Costume Coordinator supports Proctors Collaborative’s Acting Academy and TheatreTECH programs, providing costume sourcing, construction, fittings, and student instruction for four middle‑school productions. This role blends hands‑on costume work with youth mentorship, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Costume Sourcing — Pull from CSOA stock, rental houses, retail, thrift, or student wardrobes; adapt pieces under director supervision.
- Fittings & Wardrobe — Oversee measurements, fittings, rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and strike.
- Student Instruction — Teach sewing (machine & hand), alterations, distressing, dyeing, wardrobe maintenance; makeup/wig skills a plus.
- Program Support — Facilitate workshops, assist TheatreTECH students in building show costumes, maintain safe and compliant learning spaces.
- Communication — Keep Program Manager informed of challenges, needs, and site updates.
Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse youth populations.
- Background in musical theatre, performance, or costume production.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and meet deadlines.
- Professional conduct and reliability.
Program Period: October 2026 – May 2027
Schedule: After‑school, typically 3:30–5:30 p.m.; final schedule subject to review with school partners.
Rate: $6,500. This is a Contracted position with no benefits.
