Proctors Announces Sara Bareilles as Headliner for 100th Anniversary Gala

SCHENECTADY, NY (Oct. 13) — Proctors is celebrating a century of entertainment with a Grammy Award-winning star, a brand-new indoor marquee, and a Broadway season 100 years in the making.

Proctors officially kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration Tuesday, Oct. 13, with the unveiling of a new marquee in the Arcade and the announcement that singer-songwriter and Broadway composer Sara Bareilles will headline its 100th celebration gala Thursday, March 4. The announcement coincides with the opening of “BOOP! The Musical,” the first production of the 2026-27 KeyBank Broadway Subscription Series, marking the beginning of a milestone season at the historic Schenectady theatre.

Since opening its doors Dec. 27, 1926, Proctors has evolved from a silent movie and vaudeville palace into one of the Northeast’s premier performing arts destinations, welcoming generations of audiences for Broadway, concerts, comedy, film, and community events.

The centerpiece of the anniversary season will be the Proctors Centennial Celebration Gala Thursday, March 4, featuring a special MainStage performance by two-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and three-time Tony Award nominee Sara Bareilles.

Known for hits including “Love Song,” “Brave,” and “King of Anything,” Bareilles has earned international acclaim for her powerful vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and contributions to musical theatre. She composed the music and lyrics for the Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical “Waitress,” which also returns to the MainStage a few weeks following the gala.

The gala will be a building-wide celebration honoring the theatre’s legacy and looking toward its future. The evening will begin with an elevated pre-party in Key Hall featuring food, drinks, and special experiences before Bareilles takes the MainStage. The celebration will continue with a post-show party in the GE Theatre.

Throughout the anniversary season, Proctors will continue celebrating its history and the community that has supported it for a century with special events, performances and experiences. The 100th anniversary season is sponsored by Fenimore Asset Management.

The centennial kickoff also marked the unveiling of a brand-new marquee inside the historic Proctors Arcade, made possible by GNH Lumber & Home and the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority. The new marquee represents an investment in the theatre’s future while honoring its historic presence in downtown Schenectady. The Arcade has long served as a gateway to Proctors, connecting audiences to the MainStage and other performance and gathering spaces. As Proctors enters its second century, the new marquee serves as a symbol of the theatre’s continued commitment to preserving its history while creating new experiences for generations to come.

The anniversary celebration begins onstage with “BOOP! The Musical,” opening the 2026-27 KeyBank Broadway Subscription Series Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Sunday, Oct. 18. The production launches a landmark Broadway season as Proctors celebrates 100 years of bringing unforgettable live entertainment to the Capital Region.
