West Stockbridge— On Saturday, November 7th at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., In it’s seventh season, WAM Theatre’s Elder Ensemble presents “Everything Worth Having Is Ahead Of Me” at The Foundry.
The WAM Theatre’s Elder Ensemble is made up of women over the age of 65 who explore stereotypes of aging through humor, music, fear, courage and eventual connection. Led by The Foundry’s Amy Brentano and Noh Bailey, over two months, ensemble members crafted a devised theatre piece rooted in their lived experiences. Centering community building, creativity, and the joy of expressing yourself through movement, story, and collaboration, the Elder Ensemble serves as part of WAM’s commitment to creating community spaces for all women in the Berkshires.
“WAM’s Elder Ensemble is a powerful expression of our mission to advance gender equity through the power of women’s stories,” shared WAM Theatre’s Artistic Director Genée Coreno,. “When older women have the opportunity to share their experiences, wisdom, humor, and imagination, we affirm that their stories and voices have value. To be seen and heard is transformative at every stage of life. The arts can create that visibility while challenging the assumptions that too often make older women invisible.”
Co-directed by Brentano and Noh Bailey and featuring Anita Anderson, Lisa M. Avery, Barbara Cortez-Greig, Sarah E. B. Forsythe, Kim Fredrickson, Jeannine Haas, Carol A. Ivery, Carmela Lanza-Weiz, Lee McClelland, Linda Storms, and Nancy Tunnicliffe, the performances are on Saturday, November 7th at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at The Foundry, located at 2 Harris Street in West Stockbridge.
