The Majestic Theater’s 28th Season of Plays:
First up is Once (September 5 – October 20, 2025) a musical with a book by Enda Walsh, music and lyrics by Glen Hansard nad Marketa Irglova. Once is a modern, heartwarming musical about an Irish street musician and a Czech immigrant who form an unlikely bond over their shared love of music. Set against the backdrop of Dublin, the musical captures the magic of creative connection, love, and the healing power of song. With a score that blends folk, pop, and soul, Once features intimate performances that bring out the raw emotions of its characters.
Steel Magnolias (October 23 – November 30, 2025) is a heartwarming comedy by Robert Harling that blends humor with moments of emotional depth. Set in a small Southern beauty salon, the play showcases a group of strong-willed women who navigate life’s challenges with sharp humor and unfiltered honesty. From snappy one-liners to playful gossip, the women’s interactions are full of comedic moments, with characters using laughter as a coping mechanism in the face of life’s toughest trials, making it both a joyful and touching experience.
The Hound of the Baskervilles (January 8 – February 15, 2026) by Stephen Canny and John Nicholson is a fast-paced, hilarious parody of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Sherlock Holmes mystery. The legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and his trusty companion, Dr. Watson, investigate the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville, who is believed to have been killed by a supernatural hound. With just three actors playing multiple roles, with plenty of physical comedy, slapstick, and quick costume changes the suspenseful and eerie plot is brought to life in this delightful, high-energy romp that both spoofs and celebrates the iconic detective story.
Ken Ludwig’s Dear Jack, Dear Louise (February 26 – April 4, 2026) is a heartfelt and comical play that unfolds through the letters exchanged between a young Army doctor, Jack, and a nurse named Louise during World War II. As their correspondence deepens, the two begin to fall in love despite the physical distance and the challenges of wartime life. The play explores themes of love, hope, and resilience, offering a poignant look at how relationships can flourish even in the most uncertain times. With a charming mix of humor and emotion, Dear Jack, Dear Louise captures the timeless power of connection and the courage it takes to love across miles.
Come From Away (April 16 – May 31, 2026) with book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, is a heartwarming and uplifting musical that tells the true story of 7,000 passengers who were stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, after the events of September 11, 2001. This musical highlights the generosity and warmth of the real-life townspeople who welcomed strangers into their homes and hearts. With an amazing score and unforgettable performances, the show has garnered critical acclaim, winning the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Its themes of kindness and community remind us of the power of compassion in the face of adversity and the shared humanity that unites us all in times of crisis.
