Ancram Center for the Arts will host a free workshop at Spark of Hudson on January 10 from 1:30-3:30pm designed to help participants take their storytelling to the next level.
Ancram Center’s unique approach to storytelling was developed through its celebrated Real People Real Stories (RPRS) program and uses creative problem-solving exercises that help participants develop a story idea – or ideas. By the workshop’s end, participants will have the start of a compelling, personal narrative along with a plan to bring that story to life in front of a live audience.
Ancram Center’s Lead Teaching Artist Sarah Katan will work with storytellers to help them prepare their stories for the stage. Sarah is a seasoned teaching artist who earned a Master’s Degree in Learning & Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and has more than a decade of experience teaching in formal and informal settings.
Paul Ricciardi, Co-Director of Ancram Center and creator of the Real People Real Stories method, said, “The goal of the workshop is to allow the authenticity of a real-life story to come through in the telling, not to create a polished monologue.”
Spark of Hudson is located at 502 Union Street, Hudson. The workshop is free, but registration is required. Register at ancramcenter.org/workshops.
