Auditions for RIPCORD at Fort Salem Theater

This razor-sharp comedy by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire follows two feisty women stuck as roommates in a senior living facility. When one tries to evict the other, an escalating series of bets and pranks leads to hilarity and surprising revelations about friendship, family, and resilience.

Abby Binder
A sharp-tongued, fiercely independent woman living in a senior living facility. Emotionally guarded but deeply intelligent and wounded.

Marilyn Dunne
Abby’s relentlessly upbeat roommate. Warm, persistent, and quietly lonely.

Colleen/Woman in White
Plays two roles. Colleen is Marilyn’s daughter. Efficient and unflappable.

Scotty
A kind-hearted, awkward young man who forms an unlikely bond with Abby.

Benjamin/Lewis/Clown
Plays three roles. Benjamin is Abby’s estranged son. Reserved, emotionally distant, and guarded.

About The Director:

Sarah Murphy | SHE/HER | Sarah is thrilled to return to Fort Salem Theater after directing “Our Town,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and appearing in “Pride and Prejudice” (Mrs. Bennet) and “Our Town” (Mrs. Gibbs).

Since November 2021, Sarah has served as the Library Director at Greenwich Free Library, helping to provide literature, entertainment, and vast resources to the community. Sarah is co-director of Tiny Box Theater with whom she has participated as dramaturg, story collaborator, voice artist, performer, and tiny box operator in New York City and on the road in Massachusetts, Toronto, and at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. Sarah has directed Romeo & Juliet, Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, and As You Like It at the Browning School in Manhattan, where she also wrote and directed several very short plays for very young actors. As a performer, Sarah has appeared nearby with Bakerloo Theatre Project in Round Lake and Troy (Beatrice in Much Ado; Viola in Twelfth Night, Varya in The Cherry Orchard, Lady Macbeth and a witch concurrently in the Scottish play), and not too far away at the theater at Bread Loaf in Ripton, VT (Cassandra in Troilus and Cressida). Sarah has also worked as a school librarian and teacher of literature and theater.
