Dear Playwrights and Theater Enthusiasts,
Get ready to showcase your creativity and talent at The Writers Playground 2026! We’re thrilled to announce that submissions are now OPEN for this exciting event, set to take place at the Sharon Playhouse on September 4th, 2026
The Writers Playground is dedicated to providing a platform for talented writers, performers, directors, and technicians in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, as well as neighboring communities in New York and Massachusetts. We want to see your visions come to life right in your own backyard!
Here’s what you need to know to submit your work:
- Submissions are accepted electronically only. No hard copies will be considered.
- Playwrights must reside within 50 miles of the Sharon Playhouse (49 Amenia Rd, Sharon CT 06069).
- Submitted plays must be original works, never fully produced before, and under 15 minutes in length.
- Cast size is limited to 6 or fewer.
- Please include a resume (theatrical or otherwise) with your submission.
- Only one submission per individual is allowed.
- Playwrights must be available for rehearsals and collaboration.
The selection process: A panel of local artists, theater advocates, and Sharon Playhouse staff members will review all submissions and choose 6-8 finalists to be produced and presented during the festival.
Please note: Unselected submissions will be securely destroyed to protect your copyright. Chosen works are requested to credit the Sharon Playhouse.
