Greetings, I’m Frank Marquette the owner-operator of Murder Café, the Hudson Valley’s premier comedy murder mystery entertainment company. We are seeking actors for our busy 2026 season.
In its 28th year, Murder Café performs an average of 60 shows a year at a variety of venues.
If you can play a strong comic character – without a fourth wall in a dinner theater setting we’d like to meet you. Our shows are scripted but allow for audience interaction and Improvisation. Actors must have reliable transportation although we have carpooling opportunities for most shows.
We are about to cast our summer show, The Last Laugh, a show that takes place in a comedy club and has six strong characters. Here is a brief description of the show:
Welcome to The Chuckle Shack, a small-town comedy club that is hosting the Tournament of Champions. Four comics compete for a gold water bottle, but the night takes a deadly turn when the club favorite collapses mid-performance. What was meant to be a night of laughter turns into a chilling whodunit, with the host, comics, and audience members all suspects.
We work fast. There are usually six rehearsals for our productions. Although our shows are scripted, there is room for improvisation and audience interaction. We thrive on it!
Actors are guaranteed a stipend of $100 (In some cases it is more.) for each performance and dinner is included.
