New Lebanon, NY (June 21, 2021) — The Theater Barn is pleased to announce the official opening of its 37th Season. Following the successful early June one-weekend run of a staged reading of the new play “We the People” by Harrison Zeiberg, the ‘Barn opens “Fully Committed” by Becky Mode, directed by Sky Vogel, on June 24th, running through July 4th.
“Fully Committed” is a wildly funny one-man play centering on a struggling actor who works as a reservation clerk at a chic Manhattan restaurant. One man takes on 36 characters and it all takes place during an extremely busy shift, during which he is forced to deal with coworkers, friends, family, his wayward agent, the restaurant’s extremely temperamental chef and a host of demanding customers who are dying to get into the posh, overbooked eatery.
Tour de force comedian Ryan Palmer plays Sam, the struggling actor slash reservation clerk. Those who attended the Theater Barn’s early June staged-reading of “We The People” will recognize Ryan Palmer for his believable performance in the role of Mr. Pinckney. Our patrons will also remember Ryan Palmer’s outstanding performance as David O. Selznick in the ‘Barns 2019 production of Moonlight & Magnolias.
Fully Committed is directed by Sky Vogel who returns to the ‘Barn after directing the critically acclaimed 2019 production of Moonlight & Magnolias! Vogel also directed the early June staged reading.
Since 1984, the Theater Barn has a tradition of producing high quality, family friendly plays, comedies, mysteries and musicals from Broadway and beyond at an affordable price. Located just 20 minutes from Pittsfield, it is an easy drive from the Berkshires, Capital District and Springfield areas. New this year are 2pm Thursday matinees on select summer dates and Saturday 4pm matinees continue throughout the fall. Tickets are $30 – $33 with a discounted season ticket available. The theater is air-conditioned with accessible seating.
Fully Committed opens on Thursday, June 24th running through July 5th. The audience is invited to join the cast and crew for wine and hors d’oeuvres after the show on opening night. Also, new to the Theater Barn this year is a sheltered picnic area where our guests can bring picnics and take-out from one of New Lebanon’s wonderful restaurants to enjoy on the Barn’s beautiful grounds before the show!
