Caffe Lena‘s stage is famous for holding space while new talent finds their voice. We know the names of the legendary musicians that have played there. Lena had a love of theater too, and many talented actors and playwrights found their place there in the craft of theater and film. 

The tradition of theater has been slumbering until recently when they launched a new program called Playwrights Jam.

The venue this month is at Saratoga Springs Public Library Harry Dutcher Community Room, 49 Henry Street , Saratoga Springs , NY 12866(The Playwright’s Jam will usually be held at Caffe Lena- but sound check for Tom Rush at the Caffe is scheduled that afternoon!)

Playwrights bring a short scene (7-10 minutes).
Cast your actors from the audience,
including your fellow playwrights.
Give them brief directions, then put them on stage to read your script!

Each meeting will include 6 or 7 scenes selected at random from those submitted. After the readings we’ll have time to hang out and get acquainted.
