The BARC YOUTH THEATRE COMPANY is a seasonal program now in its eighteenth year under the Ballston Area Recreation Commission, aka, BARC in Ballston Spa, New York and the executive direction of Nora Osuchowski. BARC was established in 1952 with the goal of providing low cost recreational programs to families in the Ballston Spa School District and surrounding area, so participants & their families can participate in a variety of recreational, educational & athletic activities. This is accomplished through support from the Towns of Milton, Malta, & Ballston, and the Village of Ballston Spa, as well as support from the Ballston Spa Central School District.
POSITION: MUSIC DIRECTOR
STIPEND/ PAY SCALE: Per BARC Contract
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors and or substantial experience as a Music Director and or vocal coaching. Preferred strong piano player and sight-reader; experience working with children ages 8-18, a plus. Must have conducting and orchestra management skills.
DESCRIPTION: Collaborate with the director for season nineteen on the full-scale musical TBD; serving as Music Director and Conductor for 40 to 50 students. Be a part of the entire process from auditions to conducting the live performances. The Music Director will be responsible for the teaching of the music to all the performers, while providing independent vocal coaching. The Music Director will oversee hiring orchestra members.
DURATION: Part time schedule to be set up with the Artistic Director. The program runs from June to August.

POSITION: SCENIC DESIGNER
STIPEND/ PAY SCALE: Per BARC Contract
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors and or substantial experience in set, scenic design, theatre, or related field; experience working in an education youth setting; creativity; ability to work with a team of both students and parents; strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills; knowledge of design computer software; ability to use construction tools; read blueprints, etc.
DESCRIPTION: The Scenic Designer will be responsible for the design and implementation of all scenic elements of production promptly and within budgetary limits. Collaborate with the Director and production team on a full-scale musical for BARC Theatre’s nineteenth season. He / She will be expected to generate work in collaboration with the Director and production team. Work with volunteering parents who will be there to help with the construction and the load in and out.
