This is how the Phillips Festival process works.  People who are interested in participating sign up to either act, direct, write or stage manage. On Friday Oct 7th, all participants meet and the actors audition with a provided piece.   Then the writers are assigned actors, props, and other play elements by random draw.  Then they have until 6 AM on Saturday to write a 10-minute play.  Early Saturday morning, October 8th, the participants meet back at Holyoke Community where the directors are given their plays, again by random drawing.  The actors and directors rehearse all day and perform the finished product at 7:30 Saturday night.
