West Stockbridge – Fresh off their sold out Foundry show, Live from International Waters, Liz Butler and Ben Jardine present Perpetual Stew: an improvised one act play where Butler and Jardine play realistic characters in realistic moments.

Perpetual Stew shows a different side to New Zealand Fringe nominated improvisers and actors Butler and Jardine. The pair are trained in grounded improv, a style born out of Chicago companies like Second City and improvOlympic. Their shows can be funny, sad, heartbreaking – but always, Butler and Jardine play to their characters’ truths.

From an audience suggestion, Butler and Jardine will weave an intricate story that will exist for one night and one night only. It’s the perfect remedy to cold autumn nights. Come sit with them in a perpetual stew and warm the night away.

Rob Flax possesses a rare combination of skills: he is an award-winning virtuoso violinist, classically trained but known for his jazz and improvisational pyrotechnics and irresistible grooves; he is also a powerhouse vocalist, capable of silky crooning a la Nat King Cole or visceral Chicago blues shouts.

For many years Rob performed mostly solo—it takes a special kind of musician to keep pace with Rob’s stylistic breadth and depth!—but after much searching he’s finally found a band that can keep up: Rob Flax’s Boom Chick Trio is a new “supergroup” that features Slava Tolstoy on guitar and Max Ridley on bass. Max and Slava both are incredible instrumentalists who have chops for days, but know how to balance their prowess in service of the song.

Together, the three string-wielding maestros have forged a powerful group dynamic, developed over years of gigging and concerts, and the result is an interplay that will bring a smile to your face!

Charming Disaster is a goth-folk musical duo based in Brooklyn, NY, formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the macabre humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write songs that tell stories about death, crime, myth, magic, science, and the occult. Charming Disaster’s music has been featured on spooky podcast Welcome to Night Vale, they have performed with Rasputina and Voltaire, and their theatrical, entertaining live performances have captivated audiences across the United States at festivals, theaters, bars and clubs, museums and galleries, bookstores and libraries, and the occasional historic cemetery.
