Casting for three roles:George, who plays all the male parts in the story;Sara, who plays all the female parts in the story, save one; andMary, the titular character around whom everything revolves.Mary is a part for a female-identifying actor who is still young enough to be naive but ought to be old enough to know better. No specific age or gender requirements for the other two actors.
The story:
You’ve probably heard of “Typhoid Mary,” who was believed to have infected dozens of people with typhoid fever. Here’s your chance to meet the cook behind the name, a feisty, vulgar, yet deeply religious Irish immigrant named Mary Mallon. This quirky, anachronistic telling of the discovery of Mary’s disease and her subsequent forced quarantine unfolds amid changing notions of medicine, morality and cleanliness — along with the inevitable parallels to our modern experience confronting diseases that defy the limits of our knowledge.
COVID-19 safety notes:
Masks are optional at auditions and rehearsals, but all those using Creative Action Unlimited studio space must be fully vaccinated.
