Auditions: The Dolls of New Albion: A Steampunk Opera
Music and Book By Paul Shapera
Directed by Michael Donnelly
Rehearsals start Mon. Apr. 3rd
Performances Sat. May 20th & Sun. May 21st in the Curtain Theater
The Dolls of New Albion is a sung-through musical about death, love, obsession and loneliness. A whirlwind of sound that tells the story of lost and fabled New Albion, a place full of steampunk whimsy, airships and sentient plants, alchemists and machines of billowing smoke, and of course Annabel McAlistair who’s raising up the dead into the clockwork bodies of the titular dolls. This hectic journey through New Albion follows four generations of the McAlistair family from the city’s fantastical birth to its authoritarian death, showcasing its wonders and its tragedies, and demonstrating not only the self destructive potential of loneliness and obsession, but the reconstructive power of genuine meaningful human connection. All are encouraged to come join us in bringing this city & this story to life.
