Confetti Stage is excited to announce auditions for The World Premiere of “MacWreck!” Witten and Directed by Laura Darling.
What happens when a struggling theatre company attempts to put on Shakespeare’s most cursed play? With everything on the line, the company must pull off a show stopping performance despite maddingly impossible odds, no budget, missing props, and maybe even a ghost! This meta theatre comedy shows the real life madness behind the curtain with real life laughs!
This show will take place this summer INSIDE the meeting house at the Shaker Heritage site. Yes! Summer outdoor Shakespeare – now Indoors! Fans! Electricity!
All roles are open and are gender non-specific unless mentioned below. Names may be altered depending on casting. All actors/actresses are encouraged to audition. The following roles are open for casting:
Sam – The Director of the play. Overworked and arguably underprepared.
Molly, (F) the Stage Manager, also plays MacDuff later in the show. Frantic and passionate.
Lonnie –The Producer of the play. Tries to be organized. Slick and resourceful, but very sarcastic.
Paul (M)– The Set designer. A jealous perfectionist, hold his art and knowledge of theatre very highly.
Ann, (F) the Costume Designer. Sweet and kind, eager to help
Cal –The Lighting Designer – Highly knowledgeable and stoic.
Lizzy –The Props person for the play. Takes their job deadly seriously.
Kate –(F) An Actress, who plays Lady M in the play. A bit vain and haughty, but has a good heart.
Nick – (M) An Actor who plays McB in the play. Very used to getting lead roles.
Devin a newer actor who plays several roles in McB. Friends with Nick, but a theatre newbie.
Mae, – plays several roles in McB. Ditzy and always a bit behind the group.
Josie – plays several roles in McB. Strong, fearless and fierce.
Sara – an actress who plays several roles in McB. The Peacekeeper, very smart and kind.
Steve – an actor who plays several roles in McB. Can be a bit of a screwup, but is a hard worker. Ensemble role
Mrs. Goldberg -Billy’s Mom or parent, small cameo role.
Georgia Leek – a theatre critic. Fierce and powerful, smart and tenacious.

Roles may be altered or added throughout rehearsal process as we work together.
Auditions will be held on April 25th 2023 and April 26th at 7:00 PM Sign-ins begin at 6:30. at the Albany Masonic Temple, 67 Corning Place, Albany, NY 12207.
Video Submissions must be sent by April 26th by 7pm to be considered.
Actors are asked to prepare a 1 minute monologue from a piece of their choice.
Auditioners may be asked to cold read from the script or from a Shakespearean Monologue. Actors will be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID 19. Masks are optional.
“MacWreck” will be performed July 14th, 15 and 16th and 20th, 21, 22, and 23rd inside the Meeting House at the Albany Shaker Historic Site. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances will be at 7:30 PM with 2:00 PM Sunday matinees. Mandatory tech week will be July 8-13. Rehearsals will be based upon actor availability.
