The Albany Academies Musical Theater Summer Camp is seeking a Music Director for an upcoming production of Disney’s Finding Nemo, Jr.  This camp will run for nine days over two weeks: Monday-Friday, June 26 – July 7, from 8:30am – 4:30pm.  (No camp on July 4.)

This program will include campers from grades 3-6.  The Music Director is responsible for teaching music to campers as well as playing the backing tracks during rehearsals and performances.  Candidates should be able to play the piano well enough to “plunk out” melodies and harmonies competently, but they will not need to accompany the show since we’re using the backing tracks.  In addition to these duties, the Music Director will also have traditional camp counselor duties.  Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

This camp moves at a very fast pace, with auditions on the first Monday and a fully-staged performance on the second Friday.  While teaching music is a primary function of this position, it is equally as important for candidates to be willing to actively engage with young learners and to help create an positive atmosphere that nurtures and promotes a love of theater.
