Details: In 1814, one fearless woman risked everything and battled the Watervliet Shaker community to reclaim her children from their control. A gripping drama based on the life of trailblazer Eunice Chapman, Movers and Shakers recounts Chapman’s epic struggle against her alcoholic husband, Shaker leader Mother Lucy Wright, the Albany legislature and New York State law, in a time and place when women had virtually no rights and no say. Tackling religious freedom, marriage, parental rights, women’s rights,
politics and history, Movers and Shakers brings to life the spicy story of a local upstate heroine who caused riots and changed the law. An original world premiere written by Grace Denious of Her Voice Theatre and directed by Barbara Miner of Radium Girls fame.
