The LIONHEART ON THE GREEN is a new venue for WKP but it is one consistent with Shakespeare’s theatrical history as formal Elizabethan theaters such as the Globe had their origins in open space “ innyard” productions such as The White Hart or Cross Keys Inn!
Billed as a “ Rom-com “ summer, TWO GENTLEMEN IF VERONA is part of a two work summer repertory , playing in tandem with WKP’s production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW which will be on stage on Sunday , the 13th, in Albany at THE LINDA , 339 Central Avenue also at 3:00 PM.
TWO GENTLEMEN IF VERONA, arguably Shakespeare’s earliest extant play, explores first loves, pitting romance against friendship, glamor against familiarity, fidelity against desire. Though young love and it’s choices and challenges present some grim moments, there are plenty of laughs in the production including the antics of two masterful clowns AND a real, live dog!
