Pittsfield, MA–Berkshire Theatre Group seeks young actors to audition for its upcoming non-Equity touring show production of the Magic Tree House Merlin Missions: Winter of The Ice Wizard for the 2023-2024 school year.
All auditions will take place at The Colonial Theatre located at 111 South Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, starting at 6pm.
Roles are open to young actors of all ethnicities and genders enrolled in middle school, high school and local colleges ages 12 and up.
Actors should come prepared to read excerpts from the play as provided by the director and possibly sing. Callbacks will take place the same evening. Rehearsals will begin in mid-September and occur after school, evenings and weekends. All rehearsals will take place in Pittsfield, MA. Performance dates start in October and run through early June with up to two performances a week during the school day, some weekends, school vacations and evenings. Brush up rehearsals will occur throughout the run.
The play is based on the Magic Tree House Book Merlin Mission #4 Winter of the Ice Wizard written by Mary Pope Osborne with book and lyrics by Will Osborne and Jenny Laird and music and lyrics by Randy Courts. The play is directed and choreographed by Kathy Jo Grover.
Winter of the Ice Wizard is a play with music, based on Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House book of the same title. In this fantastical adventure, Merlin the Magician and Morgan le Fay have disappeared. To find them, Jack and Annie must journey with their friends Teddy and Kathleen to the mythical Land-Behind-the-Clouds, a frozen kingdom of ice and snow. There they must overcome their fears and solve the Ice Wizard’s riddle, because if Jack and Annie don’t complete their mission in time, Merlin and Morgan will disappear forever.
