Home Made Theater announces open auditions for their February/March production of Peter Pan, music by Morris “Moose” Charlap and Jule Styne, lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green, and book by J.M. Barrie. This production will be directed by Dawn Oesch, with musical direction by Richard Cherry, and choreography by Johnny Martinez.

The auditions will be held on Sunday, November 5 (children only) starting at 3:00, and Monday, November 6 (adults, including Peter Pan) starting at 6:30, at Home Made Theater’s headquarters at the Wilton Mall (near Saratoga Hospital). Callbacks (by invitation only) will be held on Tuesday, November 7.

The primary cast consists of three adult men, two adult women, two boys, and one girl. There will also be ensemble roles available. All ethnicities and gender identities are encouraged to audition.

Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time. This Tony Award-winning musical has been performed around the world and delighted audiences for 60 years. Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, fierce warriors, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook.

For the audition, adults (including those auditioning for Peter Pan) please prepare 16 bars of a song from a Broadway show. Children will be taught part of “I Won’t Grow Up” to perform. Readings will be provided. Bring a current photo (cannot be returned) and a resume.

Be prepared to list all potential conflicts from the first rehearsal through closing (with the exception of Tech Week and performances, conflicts can be worked around if known about in advance).

Rehearsals will start with a full cast read-through the evening of Sunday, January 7th. Rehearsals for the children will be Sunday only, from 1:00-5:00  (with the exception of January 7th) until February 5th, when some weeknights will be added (though the children will be dismissed by 8:30 until Tech Week). Peter Pan will rehearse on Sunday with the children, and on some weeknights. Adults will rehearse Monday, through Thursday from 6:30-9:30. Until Tech Week, rehearsals will be held at Home Made Theater’s Wilton Mall headquarters. Rehearsals move to the performance space at The Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Spa State Park on Tech Sunday.

Performances are weekends February 23 through March 3. There will be performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Saturdays are two show days. There will be one Thursday morning performance on February 29.
