Opening February 9, 2024
[GHENT, NY] The Ghent Playhouse opens its 2024 season with “All My Sons,” the Tony award-winning drama by the iconic American playwright Arthur Miller. This tense family drama was Miller’s second and established him as a the leading voice in American theater. “All My Sons” runs February 9-18. The Ghent Playhouse is located at 6 Town Hall Place in Ghent, NY.
“For this play, Arthur Miller took inspiration from a true story,” said Artistic Director Cathy Lee-Visscher. “And while the setting takes place many years ago, its theme couldn’t be more timely or relevant.”
“All My Sons” runs for two consecutive weeks: February 9-11 and 16-18, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday matinee at 2:00pm. Tickets are available online only: $23 for members, $28 for nonmembers, and $12 for students. Tickets and memberships can be purchased at GhentPlayhouse.org with no additional processing fees.
“‘All My Sons’ wrestles with many of the issues in today’s society that have deeply divided our country: from the expectations of loyalty, integrity and moral leadership to the catastrophic results that ensue when these expectations become compromised,” said Director Edward Dignum. “My hope is that the audience will feel the impact of this story, the turmoil with which these characters struggled and gain some wisdom in dealing with their own lives so that they might better connect with the notion of the greater good.”
“All My Sons” won the Drama Critics’ Award for Best New Play in 1947. In his own words, describing an audience’s reaction, Miller concluded, “The audience sat in silence before the unwinding of “All My Sons” and gasped when they should have…a mass of strangers has been publicly transfixed.”
