Becket— On Friday, November 17th at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 18th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 19th at 2 p.m., the Becket Arts Center presents “Bakersfield Mist” by Stephen Sachs, a clever, absorbing, often hilarious play about art and perception.

Paula Langton, an actor and theater educator, will star as Maude. A fifty-something unemployed bartender living in a trailer park, she thinks the painting she bought at a thrift store could be a lost masterpiece by Jackson Pollock worth millions. When world-class art expert Lionel Percy, played by stage, film and TV actor Ken Cheeseman, flies from New York to Bakersfield to authenticate the painting, fiery debates full of attitude and wit ensue. Inspired by true events, this thought-provoking comedy-drama asks vital questions about the meaning of art.

The performances are Friday, November 17th at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 18th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 19th at 2 p.m. at the Becket Arts Center on Brooker Hill Road in Becket. Tickets are $25 and $10 for members. Tickets and more information can be found online.
