Sunday, January 7th & Monday, January 8th, 2024. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 pm, auditions begin at 7:00. Sides will be provided.

Performances Dates:

April 12 – 21, 2024, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, Sundays at 2:30 pm

Rehearsals:

There will be 3-4 rehearsals per week starting in mid-February, days/times depending on cast availability. Please bring lists of conflicts to auditions. All cast members need to be available for tech/dress rehearsals the week leading up to opening night.

Synopsis:

Little Wars is set in the French Alps in 1940 on the night that France falls to German control. A dinner party is taking place that unites celebrated writers Agatha Christie Lillian Hellman, Dorothy Parker, Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas-with a mysterious guest. As the play progresses, confessions are made and secrets are revealed.  Although the play is fictional, it is based on truth and brings up questions that are relevant today.

Available Roles:

Gertrude Stein, 65.  The hostess.  A Lesbian writer with no interest in the conventional.  American.

Alice B. Toklas, 62.  Gertrude Stein’s lover, secretary and muse.  Are enthusiast and collector. American.

Lillian Hellman, 34.  A lying, chain-smoking, conniving woman who also happens to be a brilliant writer.  American.

Dorothy Parker, 47.  Satirist and author.  Despite her biting wit, Dorothy cowers to Lillian out of respect and fear.  American.

Agatha Christie, 49.  A crime-fiction writer.  Far too smart for her own good.  British.

Mary (Muriel Gardiner), 38.  A psychiatrist working in the Austrian underground to rescue Jews and dissidents.  American.

Bernadette, 22.  Gertrude and Alice’s maidservant. German.
