(Pittsfield, MA) Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Alan Paul, announces that Richard Slutzky, of Egremont, has been elected President of the Board of Trustees of Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, MA. He succeeds Marita Glodt, who served successfully as President for eleven years. 

“Richard comes to Barrington Stage with decades of experience with major financial institutions and non-profits,” said Alan Paul. “He is forward thinking, and I look forward to working with him to craft the next phase of innovation and growth at the theatre.”

Slutzky retired in 2018 after working for 20 years at Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and U.S. Trust, most recently as Director of Institutional Sales. For 13 years he was the First Vice President and Senior Philanthropic Consutant for the Merrill Lynch Center for Philanthropic and Nonprofit Management. He consulted with public charities and private foundations in the South Florida, Metropolitan New York and Northeast regions. 

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch and moving to the for private sector, Richard was the Executive Director of the Jewish Community Foundation of Metrowest New Jersey. Previously he served as Director of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas City after having practiced law there for five years. 

Richard also serves as a member of the Boards of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires and Adamah, a national environmental organization, where he has served as Board Chair. Richard has served on other numerous nonprofit boards, including Construct Inc. in Great Barrington. 

He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and Emory University School of Law. 

His wife, Alyson Slutzky, formerly ran a private psychotherapy practice in New Jersey. She is currently a volunteer therapist at Volunteers in Medicine, and she pursues her hobby of photography.
