BASED ON THE BEST-SELLING BOOK
[GHENT, NY] The Ghent Playhouse continues its 2023-24 season with “The Bridges of Madison County,” the Tony award-winning musical based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller. This sweeping romantic tale recalls the unexpected love affair between a roving photographer and an Italian-born housewife. The Ghent Playhouse is located at 6 Town Hall Place in Ghent, NY.
“This touching and powerful story, with a soaring score that earned it a Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, is about the roads we travel, the doors we open and the bridges we dare to cross,” said Artistic Director Cathy Lee-Visscher. “Set amid the cornfields of Iowa in 1965, it is a heart-breaking story, with an ensemble cast, rich with nuanced characters with their own stories.”
Michael C. Mensching and Michael McDermot are the directors.
Ellen Rizzo is Musical Director.
“The Bridges of Madison County” runs for three consecutive weeks: April 12-14, 19-21, 26-28. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 pm.
