Auditions for the first production of Spotlighter’s Theatre Troupe’s 35th season, THE MASTERPIECE are set for April 8 & 10, with performances June 22 & 23. Looking for a varied and diverse cast, ages 7-adult. (Especially needed are lots of teens and/or young adults).
This original musical comedy is a look back at the 1970s with the audience involved in figuring out the tangled web of characters, solving the crimes and making sense of the mysteries within the Arserage household and the people around them.
Characters include:
In the main house: Mr. and Mrs. Arserage-both attorneys, Gertrude-the maid, Daryl Ann- her 16 year old daughter, Jonathan-the Arserage’s teenaged ward from Southside
The Neighbors: The wealthy Mr. and Mrs. Gregory, their children-Benita (teen) and Benjamin (8-10)
The Southside Kids (from the ‘wrong side of the tracks’): Justin-guitar player and DJ, Kara – Jonathan’s old girlfriend, Christina, Julie and Maria
The Rally Girls: (socially involved students) Jackie, Annette, Pamela, Denise, Deborah
The Detectives: Bernie Myers-Chief of Police, his ‘men’ (young males or females) Jones, Rutherford and McGregor
Mr. or Mrs. Johnson– a teacher and activist
Benita’s “Trio” – (Privileged teen girls) Jacqueline, Amelia, Madeline
Additional Cast: The “Snotty Kids Society” ages 7-12 (some have speaking roles)
The Masterpiece was originally written and produced in 1999 and is being updated and revived in 2024, as part of Spotlighter’s Theatre Troupe’s 35th anniversary season!
Rehearsals run from late April until performances JUNE 22 & 23
Auditions are scheduled by age groups Ages 7-10; Ages 11-12; Ages 13-Adult.
We will be singing from the show and reading sides from the script. (Nothing needs to be prepared.)
