The Rooted Voyageurs theater company is looking for a group of non-equity actors for its 2024 production of The Tempest! This production will travel to multiple parks in Columbia County and Upstate New York. Actors of the global majority are strongly encouraged to submit.

Our mission is art without admission, so every performance is free to the public! We believe in equitable and entertaining live theater for the people that is not prohibited by cost. To find out more about our company please visit our website at therootedvoyageurs.com.

We cannot provide housing, so we are looking for actors who are local/can commute to Columbia County, NY.

Rehearsal dates are Wednesday, May 29th – Sunday, June 16th, 2024. Rehearsals will be held in person in Chatham, NY with possible performance dates on weekends from Friday, June 21st- Sunday, July 8th, 2024. Our performance will be donation-based (since this is a community event we want it to be accessible to everyone!).

Each actor will be doubled, meaning that you will be guaranteed at least two parts in the show.

All roles are available, but we are especially looking to find strong, diverse actors for Prospero, Miranda, and Ferdinand.

We will be providing each actor with a stipend at the end of the process. Exactly how much money will be provided is still dependent on benefactors and other funding avenues.

Our performance is 1 hour and 25 minutes long. Actors will also have tour jobs, including setting up and taking down a bare-bones set.

The Tempest is a show for EVERYONE! A part of our mission is to make this show understandable and entertaining. We have marketing materials and will be assisting with the marketing of our performance in each town!

If this interests you, please submit a Shakespeare monologue of your choice (no time limit, just do you!) along with your headshot and resume to rootedvoyageurs@gmail.com by March 7th. Every part is open to every actor, no matter their race, gender identity, or sexuality. In your video, please state your name and where you would be living during the duration of the contract.
