The Sharon Playhouse is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated 2024 Summer YouthStage season, showcasing the remarkable talent of young performers in our community. Tickets for this exciting lineup are now available for purchase at www.sharonplayhouse.org!
Kicking off the season on June 29, is Sharon Playhouse Stars, a heartwarming production featuring 5-7 year olds. Conceived and directed by Sarah Cuoco, with music direction by Beckie Wallace, this homegrown show promises to captivate audiences of all ages with its adorable charm.
Next up, on July 12-13, audiences will be treated to Shakespeare’s classic comedy As You Like It, directed by Michael Kevin Baldwin with music direction by Jeff Raab. This ensemble-driven production, featuring local teenagers, will take place in the covered horse arena at The Equus Effect Farm in Sharon, CT. In non-profit partnership with The Sharon Playhouse, a portion of each ticket sale for this event will benefit back to The Equus Effect.
Following this, on July 20, prepare to be delighted by Willy Wonka Kids, a scrumdiddlyumptious musical tale based on the beloved book by Roald Dahl. Directed and choreographed by Molly Model, with music direction by Beckie Wallace, this production will showcase the talents of local 7-11 year olds in a whimsical journey through the famed chocolate factory.
The excitement continues with Raise Your Voice, a brand-new musical revue packed with iconic Broadway showtunes, featuring local 7-12 year olds. Directed by Ricky Oliver, with music direction by TJ Swetz, this energetic production is sure to leave audiences singing along.
On the heels of this musical extravaganza comes Disney’s High School Musical, Jr., featuring local 10-16 year olds. Directed by Kent Burnham, choreographed by Kimiye Corwin, and music directed by Eric Thomas Johnson, this theatrical phenomenon promises to bring the magic of high school drama to the stage.
Rounding out the season is Sassy Cinderella, a twisted fairy tale written by our very own Michael Kevin Baldwin. Directed by Sam LaFrage and featuring local 7-11 year olds, this zany romp is guaranteed to entertain both children and adults alike.
