The Hudson River Shakespeare Company begins its 24th season with auditions for its spring production of The Petrified Forest by Robert Emmet Sherwood on Wednesday, April 24, at 7 pm at the United Methodist Church, 227 Main Street, Hudson Falls. No previous experience or prepared material is necessary however it is important to be on time.
The plot revolves around Gabby, a young woman who lives and works in her father’s diner on the edge of the Petrified Forest. She wants to go and live with her mother in France. Along comes Alan, a broke poet with no will to live, who is traveling to see the Pacific, and maybe to drown in it. Meanwhile Duke Mantee, a notorious killer, and his gang are heading towards the diner where Mantee plans on meeting up with his girl.
Rehearsals for this production will take place evenings, 6 pm to 9 pm, Monday through Thursday, May 6 – 30. There will be four performances, May 31 and June 1 at 8:00 PM and June 1 and 2 at 2:00 PM at The Strand Theater, 210 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
