ADAMS, MA—The Adams Theater is bringing the multiple-award-winning, critically acclaimed “Robert Frost: This Verse Business,” starring Gordon Clapp, to the Berkshires on June 1 and 2. It’s a one-man exploration of the legendary poet: his life, his poetry, his decisions, his regrets, and of course, his writing.

Emmy winner (NYPD Blue), IRNE winner (Man in the Ring), and Tony nominee Clapp has been lauded for the way he embodies Frost’s “flinty old poet” vibes. Broadway World called it “A seamless piece of theater, which Clapp delivers with authentic New England wit and charm…a must see!”

The Boston Globe recently said “Clapp embodies the poet’s joy and mischievous sense of humor…Clapp warms to the audience, and begins engaging us even more, making the experience feel less like a performance and more like a conversation.”

Clapp read Robert Frost’s biographies shortly after graduating from Williams College in 1971. “I’d always been obsessed with his poetry. And I decided I’m going to bring this guy to the stage,” he told Vermont Public Radio in 2023. “But it took me another 30 years to get around to it.”

Clapp has now played Frost more than 130 times; playwright A.M. Dolan, who has acted with regional and summer theatres across the country, earned a “Best New Play” award for “This Verse Business” at the Eventide Arts Festival in 2010, and  “Best Production” at the United Solo Play Festival in NYC in 2013. Clapp has returned to Frost even while taking on other roles in theater and TV.
