Noli Timerethe culmination of a five-year collaboration between  Guggenheim Fellows choreographer Rebecca Lazier and renowned sculptor Janet Echelman, is a soaring aerial performance-installation featuring a voluminous floating, iridescent net sculpture and eight  multidisciplinary performers. The work is a fusion of contemporary dance and avant-garde circus; art installation and advanced engineering; public sculpture and social practice that explores  how we navigate an unstable world.

Set to an original score by Canadian composer Jorane, the PS21 preview of Noli Timere marks the first-time dancers perform, up to 25 feet in the air, upon and within a suspended Echelman sculptureIn this collaborative work, the movements of the dancers and the suspended net sculpture continually transform one another.

Noli Timere, Latin for “Be not afraid,” renders interconnectedness visible, where every change in one element has cascading effects on its surroundings, mirroring the fragility of our ecosystem and underscoring the need for innovative responses to global challenges.
