GREENFIELD, MA — The LAVA Center is proud to present our second annual festival of new play readings by (mostly) local playwrights, “On the Boards ’24,” which kicks off Saturday, June 15, 7 p.m. with table readings by local playwright Mary Nelen and friend-of-LAVA Rex McGregor.
The Female Gaze was written and directed by Mary Nelen and will be performed by Phoebe Hazzard, Shannon Edward Chabot and Ed Fitzgerald. The Female Gaze is a one-act play featuring a female photographer and her Craigslist assistant who attempt to find the soul of their subject, a public figure, who arrives at the studio expecting romance. Chaos and mayhem ensue when the public figure finds himself prisoner of the long exposure.
Rogue Flight was written by Rex McGregor and directed by Ash Goverman, and will be performed by Kimberly Salditt-Poulin, Aria Killough-Miller, Alison Blakeslee and Lin Snider. When her mother prepares her for a huge surprise, Ellie is only at the start of a weird journey.
Admission is on a sliding scale of $5–15 ($1–2 for Card to Culture participants). Advance tickets are now available at https://www.tixtree.com/o/lava.
