HONORING MARITA GLODT, BSC Board President 2013-2023
(Pittsfield, MA) Barrington Stage Company (Alan Paul, Artistic Director) announces The Best of Times, a 30th Anniversary Celebration, on Monday, July 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Stationery Factory in Dalton, MA. Tickets start at $350. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact BSC’s Development Office at 413-997-6116 or gala@barringtonstageco.org.
All proceeds raised by the paddles up at the Celebration will support BSC’s Education Fund, in particular, our life-changing Playwright Mentoring Project (entering its 25th year), which received the highest recognition bestowed by the White House for an after-school program.
Alan Paul, BSC’s Artistic Director, expressed his excitement about the event, “Celebrating Barrington Stage Company’s 30th Anniversary is a tribute to the dedication and talent of everyone who has been part of our journey. From our incredible Broadway and BSC alums gracing the stage tonight to the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes, this milestone is a testament to their passion and commitment. We honor their contributions and look forward to many more years of exceptional theatre.”
The 30th Anniversary Celebration, a landmark event that will celebrate three decades of theatrical excellence, is directed by Alan Paul, with music direction by Trevor Pierce. The evening will feature a special performance by Broadway sensation Ali Louis Bourzgui, a Pittsfield native and BSC alum, currently starring in the Broadway revival of The WHO’s TOMMY.
Bourzgui garnered acclaim for his performance as Tommy, earning a Jeff Award during the show’s pre-Broadway run at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. A BSC alum, he portrayed Lord Fahrquar in BSC’s Youth Theatre production of SHREK.
Joining Bourzgui are Broadway and BSC alums Will Swenson, Dorcas Leung and Alan H. Green. Swenson starred in The Pirates of Penzance and The Royal Family of Broadway (and as Neil Diamond in A Beautiful Noise on Broadway). Dorcas is currently on Broadway in The Notebook and was featured as Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods. Green is a Board Member and Associate Artist whose credits include American Underground, and who’ll be starring in our next musical, Next to Normal. Waggoner was featured as a storyteller in Southern Comfort and composed the score for Presto Change-O in the Musical Theatre Lab.
Guests will enjoy an open bar with specialty cocktails and a three-course dinner provided by caterer Tom Ellis’s company The Swell Party.
This year’s Celebration honors former BSC Board President Marita Glodt, who served as President of the Board of Trustees of Barrington Stage Company for eleven years. She remains a member of its Board and Executive Committee. BSC will also pay tribute to the 10 stars who worked behind-the-scenes to make BSC such a success: Sydelle and Lee Blatt, Bill Finn, Joe Martin, Debra Miersma and David Russell, Mary Ann Quinson, Hon. Jimmy Ruberto, Reid White, Mark St. Germain, Tristan Wilson, Jessie Wolfson.
