A unique theatrical collaboration brings Shakespeare to a downtown Albany bar this weekend.

If Shakespeare’s ghost was roaming around like Hamlet’s father, he would be sure to stop by Lionheart on the Green this coming Saturday, July 75th, at 4:00 PM! Will Kempe’s Players are preparing to take over “the green” at Lionheart on the Green for what promises to be a madcap production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

This production promises to be zany, full of tricksters, and will have you feuding with wood sprites all while in the company of a few star-crossed lovers. WKP’s offering of this classic comedy is being served up with a new twist that you won’t want to miss!

8 actors will only be handed their scripts to play “trippingly on the tongue” at the play’s onset. This Saturday, with scripts in hand, these performers will inhabit the character(s) that the day’s “fate” will hand them: today a Queen, tomorrow the Faerie King’s lackey!

For an added twist: a clock will be set in motion, and audience members will be charged with helping the actors perform their parts in “good time.”

LIONHEART owner Jerry Aumand says:
“Will Kempe’s Players surprised and entertained our customers so well last summer with their performance of a different Shakespeare comedy that I was eager to have them work their magic again! It feels like a good match …why not? Isn’t the expression ‘all the world’s a stage’?”

All the world is indeed a stage and WKP is ready!

Showtime is 4:00 PM. Come early and stay late! Don’t forget, as with all of Kempe’s productions, admission is FREE!

With such creative energy on tap, Saturday’s LIONHEART merrymakers are sure to find themselves at the center of a unique and enthralling evening!LIONHEART on the GREEN is at 952 Broadway, Albany 12208
