THEATER VOICES opens its 37th season with four free staged reading performances of “The Typographer’s Dream” by Adam Bock, directed by soon-to-be Russell Sage College graduate Cam Richardson, over the weekend of Oct. 18-20, 2024.
THE STORY: As a typographer, a geographer and a stenographer strive to explain their work, we come to discover the difference between our jobs and who we are. With humor and heart, this play explores how work weaves its way into the fabric of our lives. It’s a quirky, honest look at how we define ourselves and tell our stories. The Washington Post said: “We may not all be versed in typography, geography or stenography, but we can understand the need to find meaning, direction and permanence in a bewildering, changeable world.”
PERFORMANCES: “The Typographer’s Dream” will be presented on stage at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Ave., Albany on:
- Friday, Oct. 18, 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 19, 2:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 20, 2:30 p.m.
NOTE ON COVID SAFETY: For the 2024-25 season, mask-wearing is optional at Theater Voices shows (subject to change based on CDC and community health guidelines).
CAST & CREW: ”The Typographer’s Dream” is directed by Cam Richardson, who is making his debut with Theater Voices. A soon-to-be graduate of Russell Sage College with a B.A. in Theater, his previous work includes acting and stage managing with Will Kempe’s Players during their past three seasons. He also worked with the NYS Defenders Institute’s Trial Skills Program and with HRC Showcase Theatre in “How We Survived.” At Russell Sage, he’s performed a myriad of roles, including, most recently, Gene in “Rhinoceros,” Uncle Henrick in “Number the Stars the Musical,” and stage manager for “She Kills Monsters.” He originally directed “The Typographer’s Dream” for his Senior Project at Sage, and he looks forward to remounting it on the Theater Voices stage.
The cast features Madison Gaiger, Michael Sinkora and Elizabeth Broderick. Stage management by Jack Ellis.
