Fort Salem Theater is excited to announce auditions for a developmental reading of ICU, a new musical by Dan Costello, directed by Brittany Martel. Auditions are open for a variety of dynamic roles, with rehearsals from November 10-14 and a performance on November 15. Submit your headshot, resume, and materials by October 25 for consideration. About the show: A developmental reading for ICU, exploring two weeks in a family’s life when a father suddenly goes on life support. The play also explores moving from the city to the country, senior care in America, the medical profession, siblings, religion, and being a parent of young children while also being the child of aging parents. There’s a lot of fishing. And of course, it’s a love story. Did we mention it’s a musical?

JOANIE RUSSELL, 60s-70’s, Merman style Alto, cis female, retired IT professional, a Jewish Mother/Grandmother who takes care of everyone.
JACOB “JAKEY” RUSSELL, late 30s-40s, Bass/Baritone, cis male, Oldest Brother, a Religious Jewish hippie who lives far away. Doubles Kidney Doctor.
BRANDON “RUSS” RUSSELL, Middle Brother, Construction business owner in a big city. Doubles Boy/Gary the Nurse. ROLE IS CAST
DEVIN “DEV” RUSSELL, Youngest Brother, moved from city to country, now close to childhood home. ROLE IS CAST

NIKKI, 30s-40s, Alto/Belter, cis female, spouse to RUSS. Keeps people in line. All of the spouses are the next generation of caretakers in the family, and mirror Joanie in some aspects. Must be able to sing tight vocal harmonies in a trio. Doubles Nurse/Neurologist.
ARROW/ALI, 30s-40s, lyric soprano/tenor, cis female or cis male in the past, NB/genderqueer in the now, spouse to DEV. Kind, full of grace, holds a lot of space. All of the spouses are the next generation of caretakers in the family, and mirror Joanie in some aspects. This role can be played by a person of any gender identity.Must be able to sing tight vocal harmonies in a trio.Doubles Irish Nurse.
