About the Show
Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher ignites the imagination while playfully exploring the depths of greed and despair… and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.
Audition Dates Thursday, December 12th and Friday December 13th, 2024 (You only need to attend one of these sessions)
Sign in begins at 6:30 pm. Auditions begin at 7:00 pm
Callbacks will be by invite only and will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 2:00 pm
Audition Location: SLOC Musical Theater, Education Building 418 Liberty St., Schenectady, NY 12305 Free parking is available in the city-owned lot across the street.Please enter through the left front door facing Liberty Street.
What to Expect at Auditions: Various theater games and devising exercises will be taught and played to assess the auditioners ability for creative ensemble storytelling.Sides from the show will be provided for auditions.Music will be provided at callbacks. Auditioners are NOT asked to prepare a song for auditions in advance.
Rehearsal Dates
Rehearsals will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, 7 pm-10 pm, and on Sunday afternoons 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. Please note rehearsal times are subject to change based on cast/crew availability.
Full cast read-through will take place either December 18th or 20th (TBD based on cast/crew availability)Rehearsals will begin Sunday, January 5th.
There will be a photo shoot day TBD based on cast/crew availability.

Characters
Casting performers 18 years of age and older for this production.
The age and gender identity of the characters listed below are provided as a guideline and do not necessarily need to match the age or gender identity of the actor. We encourage actors of all backgrounds to consider these roles and bring their unique perspectives to the characters.
Black Stache A notorious pirate, terrorizing the seven seas in search of a worthy adversary. Heartless, hirsute, and suspiciously well read. Partial to the poetical and theatrical, which causes him to behave quite flamboyantly.Gender: male identifying Age: 30 to 50
Molly Aster A young girl and Starcatcher apprentice who is taken aboard the Neverland as precious cargo. Curious and intelligent, she is only beginning to understand the confusing romantic longings that come with her age. She will risk anything for the sake of what is right.Gender: female identifying Age: 18 to 25
Boy/Peter A lonely and hardened orphan who doesn’t miss much. Nameless, homeless, and friendless at the beginning of the play and a hero by the end. He wants a home and a family more than anything, and dreams of a life of being free.Gender: male identifying Age: 18 to 25
Grempkin The schoolmaster of St. Norbert’s Orphanage for Lost Boys. Mean and malodorous, he revels in keeping his boys in the dark and malnourished. Doubles as: FIGHTING PRAWN; MACK; SÁNCHEZ.Gender: male identifying Age: 40 to 60+
Mrs. Bumbrake Molly’s nanny, a stereotypical British cad and outfitted with the duty of teaching Molly about womanhood. She still has enough charm in her age to attract a sailor or two. Doubles as: TEACHER.Gender: male identifying Age: 40 to 60
Bill Slank The vicious orphaned captain of the Neverland. Does not possess the capacity to lead anyone but himself, which puts himself constantly in disaster. Greedy enough to send boys to their doom for the chance of gaining starstuff. Doubles as: HAWKING CLAM.Gender: male identifying Age: 35 to 55
Smee Black Stache’s first mate. He is single-mindedly dedicated to his captain’s every whim.Gender: male identifying Age: 25 to 55
Prentiss An orphan, ambitious, hyper articulate, and logical. He yearns to be leader, even when he knows in his heart that he’ll never be one. A bit of a blowhard with a touch of cowardice.Gender: male identifying Age: 15 to 25
Ted An orphan obsessed with food. A natural performer with easy wit and quite poetic language.Gender: male identifying Age: 15 to 25
Alf A seafarer, an old sea dog proud of his tenure. His kind heart gives him an appeal to the feminine sensibility.Gender: male identifying Age: 50 to 65+
Lord Leonard Aster Molly’s father, a loyal subject to the Queen. The very model of a Victorian English gentleman, he is a faithful friend and a secret Starcatcher.Gender: male identifying Age: 40 to 60
Captain Robert Falcon Scott Lord Aster’s old school friend, the captain of the Wasp, Britain’s fastest frigate. Lives with nautical bravura and heroic patriotism.Gender: male identifying Age: 35 to 45
