Bard in the Bar: The Winter’s Tale

Dec 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM
The Brewery at Four Star Farms (508 Pine Meadow Road, Northfield MA)

The Valley Players will hold its second “Bard in the Bar” gathering on Friday, December 13 at 7:00pm at The Brewery at Four Star Farms in Northfield. This time the event will feature an impromptu reading of The Winter’s Tale, Shakespeare’s tragicomic masterpiece of jealousy and love, tyranny and rebellion, shipwrecks and magical statues, ballad-singing and hungry bears.

“Bard in the Bar” is an all-volunteer, script-in-hand, drink-in-hand reading of a Shakespeare play to benefit a local charity or nonprofit. Admission is free and no reservations are required but donations are encouraged. Half of donations raised will go to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to support its mission to end hunger in the community. The other half of donations will go to support the Valley Players’ mission to produce nimble, meaningful, and accessible community theater for the Connecticut River Valley region of Massachusetts.

During the show, guests can enjoy Four Star’s celebrated offerings of custom beers, cider, and wine, as well as a selection of non-alcoholic beers, kombucha, soda, and mocktails. Outside food is welcome.
