Based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the workers that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, and the housewife, just to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards in 1978, this classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, Micki Grant, and more.
Audition Dates are : Monday, Feb 10 and Tuesday, Feb 11. 6:30 sign in. 7:00 pm start.
At The Ghent Playhouse, 6 Town Hall Place, Ghent NY 12075.
Rehearsals will begin the week of February 17 and usually be Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds. The show runs April 11-27.
The show contains mature themes and language. Please be familiar with the material before auditioning.
The show will be directed by Michael Mensching and Michael McDermott and music directed by Joanne Mensching.
Those auditioning should:
*Be familiar with the show and its music, language, and themes.
* Prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show (contemporary musical theater).
*Bring sheet music in the correct keys,
*Singers will not be permitted to sing a cappella.
*Bring a list of conflicts between February 17– April 27.

The production features a cast of six, three men and three women, allocated as follows. Depending on the number of people at auditions the production may use more cast members and/ or double them in different roles.
