Job Posting: Music Director for Godspell

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Music Director for our upcoming production of Godspell. This is a contracted position. The Music Director will work closely with the Director, Choreographer, and production team to bring this beloved musical to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and rehearse all-vocal music with the cast, ensuring strong ensemble singing and individual performances.
- Collaborate with the Director and Choreographer to align the musical elements with the vision for the production.
- Recruit and lead a pit orchestra as needed.
- Conduct all performances, overseeing the musical aspects of the show.
- Attend production meetings, auditions, and rehearsals as required.
- Provide input on casting, particularly for roles requiring strong vocal abilities.
- Maintain a supportive and positive atmosphere during rehearsals and performances.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Music Director for musical theatre productions.
- Strong piano skills and the ability to accompany rehearsals.
- Proficiency in vocal coaching and teaching harmonies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a creative team and performers of varying experience levels.
- Knowledge of the Godspell score is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals will begin in March 2025, with a schedule to be determined based on cast and production team availability. The Music Director will be expected to attend most rehearsals, particularly those involving music instruction.
