THE STORY: Winner of the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, D.L. Coburn’s classic play chronicles the relationship between two unhappy denizens of a seedy nursing home — Weller Martin and Fonsia Dorsey — who play multiple games of gin rummy together. Their secrets, gradually revealed, become weapons as they navigate loneliness and old age.
